Over the years we have participated in hundreds of farmers' markets, craft fairs and pop-up events. The conversations with customers at those events have helped us make our products better, and have helped us make good choices about what to offer next. Those conversations also made it clear that many people want to support businesses that align with their values.
Now that our online shop is the primary way that we do business we wanted to keep the conversations going. We hope that adding a blog accomplishes a few things:
1) We know it's important for you to have a sense of who we are and why we do what we do. In a nutshell we started Whoa Nelli because people's health, a healthy environment and social responsibility matter a great deal to us. The blog will be an opportunity to expand on what we're thinking about and putting our energy towards.
As a side note, the "we" behind the blog is truly more of an "I" because the posts will be written by me (Mary) but there are a few reasons why "we" feels more fitting for at least this post. My husband Matt is an environmental studies and geography professor so he's not involved in the day-to-day but he has contributed ideas and lots of weekend hours to cutting soap, building displays, working farmers' market booths and many other jobs. We have supported one other's professional dreams and Whoa Nelli is possible because we're a team. Also the hope is to expand the business team shortly so "we" is aspirational.
2) As people who think about natural cleaning more than most we'd love to share what we've learned. This will be the place where we'll post cleaning tips and hopefully we can answer some questions for you as well.
3) Many of you are taking steps to lead more sustainable lifestyles and we're right there with you. When we come across a tool or a solution or a bit of inspiration that has helped us we'll share it, and we would love to learn from you.
To begin we'll add one to two posts per month, and we hope that you'll feel free to share your comments.
What natural cleaning dilemmas can we help you with? Have you discovered any sustainable products that we should know about? What's bubbling up in your mind?
